The Quiltmakers Bird 50"L x 45"
The pattern for the center panel of this piece was in the December issue of Quiltmakers Magazine in 1999. The fabrics used were hand dyed and hand appliquéd to the background. The pinwheel border was part of the original directions in the magazine, but the rest were my design. The flowered border is hand appliquéd using hand dyed fabrics and butterfly printed fabric.
The piece was entered into the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in 2001. One of the magazine's editor took a picture of the quilt at the same time I sent a picture to the magazine. I was asked to send the quilt for inclusion on the Stitch and Show page of the magazine. What a thrill to see my work in a publication. It appeared in the March/April 2001 addition of the magazine. The Quiltmakers Bird has traveled with the "In Bloom" exhibit of the IQA (International Quilt Association) in 2011-2012.
