Carefree Creativity with the Vegamatic art quilt
A small art quilt will be produced in class, using what I call the Vegamatic technique. The use of scraps or orphan blocks that are in a triad color family works best. Such as orange, purple and green or blue, yellow and red or purple, green and red-orange. Check a color wheel for more ideas. After some stitching, the rotary cutter is used to slice and dice the strips or blocks. No two quilt top turn out the same. A safe workshop for those who want to make an art quilt, but do not where to start. Any color palette will work--when using black and white fabric all bright colors become the dancers in the quilt. Remember to choose a variety of light, medium and dark fabrics.

Slice and Dice Quilt
Using the slice and shuffle method of designing, create a lovely one of a kind quilt top. Strips of fabric are inserted at various times of slicing and stitching. Each quilt block is squared and sewn into strips to create the quilt top. This is a very easy technique. Choose a dark, medium and light fabric combination, plus a stripe and a zinger for the color strips that run through the blocks. The blocks are created individually and then sewn into the top. A great project for beginners to advanced quilters.
